12 uses for peppermint essential oil:
1. Supports a Healthy Digestive System
Rub 2 to 4 drops of peppermint essential oil over your stomach, you can use a carrier oil, such as coconut oil or sweet almond oil to massage it better into your skin.
This will help you with diarrhea, flatulence, stomach discomfort, bloating, and constipation.
2. Heartburn
Add a drop to your herbal tea.
3. Fever
Rub several drops of peppermint on the bottoms of the feet, as well as on the torso.
Another great tip is to put a few drops onto a wet washcloth and wash fevered body from head to though, to comfort and cool down.
Take care around the eye region, peppermint essential oil is very strong and will burn your eyes.
4. Nausea or Morning Sickness
Massage several drops of peppermint on the abdomen, it's great to use with a carrier oil (coconut or sweet almond work great), inhale deeply and diffuse.
5. Healthy Joints and Muscles
Massage several drops of peppermint on an area of injury, and to support healthy joints and muscles.
6. Headaches
Rub a drop of peppermint essential oil on the temples, forehead, over the sinuses (avoid the eyes!), and on the back of the neck.
If you are prone to frequent headaches, add both peppermint and lavender essential oils to a roller bottle along with some coconut or sweet almond oil.
Keep the bottle handy to apply whenever you feel a headache coming on.
7. Congestion
Breath again by simply putting a drop of peppermint onto your tongue and inhale into the nose and sinuses.
8. Itching
Apply a frew drops of peppermint topically on unbroken skin to stop itching. Great for bug bites, hives, poison ivy or poison oak.
9. Use as a Pick Me Up
Inhale peppermint, diffuse and apply to your wrists for a dose of extra energy.
10. Prevent Drowsiness
Mix peppermint with a citrus oil such as lemon or orange, and apply to the back of your neck, inhale the rest of the oils that are on your hands.
11. Relaxing Foot Soak
Add peppermint to a bowl of warm water for a relaxing foot soak.
The same applies to tired aching feet. Add a few drops to a foot bath to relieve sore, swollen and overworked feet.
12. Stop Cravings
Place a drop of Peppermint onto your thumb and press it on the top of your mouth, or place one drop of oil onto your tongue and press it up, will combat cravings for sweets and carbs.
