There are so many ways that you can oats into your diet.
As a Swiss born, the first way I can think of using these oats is of course in a yummy and nourishing Bircher Müesli.
Simply soak the oats for 15minutes in some nut milk.
Grate one apple and add it to the oats.
Add some chopped nuts and dried fruits such as raisins.
Add Vanilla powder and Cinnamon.
Mix all well together and enjoy.
Adapt to your liking. You could add some honey or berries. Yum!
These raw oats are also great to thicken up your soups.
You can make raw breads. Amy-Sue from www.nouveauraw.com has some excellent recipes.
You can mill the oats into flour and create cookies, pancakes or use as flour in all your other baking recipes.
Or you can whip up these deliciously looking RAW Apple Cider Doughnuts :)
Recipe adapted from www.onegreenplanet.org
Ingredients
Doughnuts:
- 2 1/2 cups raw rolled and sprouted oats
- 1 cup brazil nuts
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 1-2 apples, juiced (2/3 cup)
- 1/4 cup coconut sugar
- 1/3 cup agave, honey or maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg, freshly grated
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon Himalayan pink salt
Cinnamon Sugar Coating:
- 1/4 cup coconut sugar (I ground mine into a powder with a spice grinder)
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
Preparation
- Juice about 1-2 apples and set the liquid aside
- Process the oats in a food processor until it turns into flour.
- Add in the Brazil nuts and process again until fine.
- Add the rest of the dry ingredients and process once more.
- Put the mixture into a mixing bowl and stir in the apple cider.
- Spread the mixture into a donut pan and dehydrate at 165°F for one hour (the food will not reach 165°F because of water evaporation, therefore, it is still raw).
- Turn down the thermostat to 105°F and dehydrate for another 3-4 hours.
- Take the doughnuts out of the pan by prying them with a knife or turning them over and tapping on the back until they pop out.
Notes
If you don't have a dehydrator, use your oven at the lowest temperature possible and keep the door cracked open to allow ventilation. Times vary so keep your eye out.
